Summer is in swing and it’s time for picnics and cookouts and gatherings of all sorts. Watermelon is always a favorite summertime treat and this watermelon berry salad with creamy feta dressing is something special!
This watermelon berry salad with creamy feta dressing is a great salad to celebrate a holiday, take to a party, or just enjoy on the weekend. The flavor combo is fab and it’s so nice to prep using the season’s favorite fruit.
I think the feta cheese-watermelon pairing has been a fairly recent combo in the U.S. At least I don’t really remember eating these two goodies together when I was growing up. I do remember eating watermelon slices right off their rinds with a stream of pink juice dripping down my arm. Good times!
Now I’m more careful when I eat watermelon, but it’s still a summer staple and I love any sort of watermelon salad – they’re always super-refreshing.
I’ve read several articles and recipes that note the watermelon-feta combo isn’t a new thing in parts of the world, and that it’s common in some Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries. The love of a sweet-and-salty pairing makes this duo perfectly satisfying.
Check out my recipe for Grilled Watermelon with Feta, Mint, and Balsamic Glaze that’s super-fun. Then try my Spicy Watermelon Salsa. It’s nice for a summer party.
I love fruit mixed with greens for a fresh salad like this recipe for Spinach and Couscous Salad with Avocado & Honey-Lime Dressing.

Watermelon Berry Salad with Creamy Feta Dressing
I tossed blueberries, strawberries, and cucumber into this seasonal salad, and it couldn’t be more fun! It’s colorful, juicy, crunchy, sweet, tangy, and a little salty. This salad has it all! I used Bibb lettuce in the mix, but any mild-flavored greens would work well.
Now let’s talk about this creamy feta dressing. Yeah, it’s good. In fact, I used a little to dip some crunchy pita chips into. I can see it as a great dip for veggies, too. Or on regular green salads.
I love garlic, and there are two cloves in this recipe. Not only that but I added fresh dill, too. I could probably eat anything with fresh dill! The feta makes things slightly salty so no need to add salt. I can’t wait to make this again and again!
This is definitely a salad you’ll need to eat almost right after you make it since the watermelon will tend to release its juices. This isn’t the sort of salad you toss in advance and set aside. You could, however, cut and dice some of the ingredient ahead of time and keep them in separate containers until ready to mix.
Prep Ahead:
I don’t advise making this salad hours before serving it because the watermelon will release its juices, but you can do some prep in advance and keep the ingredients separated until your ready to serve – then all you have to do is toss it together.
- Wash, dry, and tear the lettuce
- Slice the watermelon, cut away the rinds, then cut the fruit into 2-inch cubes
- Wash, dry, hull the strawberries, and slice them
- Wash and dry the blueberries
- Wash, dry, and slice the cucumber
Give this watermelon berry salad with creamy feta dressing a try! The flavors are amazing and it’s a great way to enjoy this season’s fresh fruit.
